Background

If the Axys PrimoPDF print driver isn't installed on the machine, the Axys report run executable (rep32.exe) silently fails to produce the PDF during the automated report run.

Note that this is different from the PDF generator in the Axys application itself - users can create PDFs from Axys without PrimoPDF installed.  The failure only happens in the rep32.exe scripting system.

Fix

Important: This procedure is provided as a courtesy - Trumpet does not support Axys directly.  If you have questions about enabling PrimoPDF in Axys, please contact Axys support directly.

The following procedure covers how to install and configure the PrimoPDF print driver:

Starting in Axys 3.8.7.7, PrimoAPI is the default PDF printer for Axys. PrimoAPI is a PDF printer built into Axys that can replace Adobe Acrobat.

The PrimoAPI requires separate installation. After installation, you will see "PrimoAPI" as a printer option.

Installation Instructions

You can install PrimoAPI in a 32- or 64-bit environment.

IMPORTANT: You must install Axys 3.8.7.7 on the server before installing the PrimoAPI on computers running Axys.

1. Back up the registry key that matches your environment:

- 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Advent

- 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Advent

2. AX32_AXYS_AXYS387PATCH_V7.zip contains two files. Right-click the file that matches your environment, and select Run as Administrator to begin the extraction process.

- 64-bit: AxysPrimoSetupX64.exe

- 32-bit: AxysPrimoSetupX86.exe

You will get this message hit run anyway

3. If you do not have .NET Framework 3.5 installed, the setup guides you through downloading and installing the feature.

If the installation of .NET fails, update this registry key to 0 and restart Windows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU\UseWUServer.

After you install .NET, right-click AxysPrimoSetup_New.exe again and select Run as Administrator.

You will get this warning

Click OK.

5. Accept the default Axys installation and Windows paths, or enter a new path.

6. Click Install.

7. Confirm the installation location and click OK.

 Once the installation is complete, click OK and close the window.
