8.8. Sent Email Integration Stopped Popping Up

Background

After sending an email you expect to see Worldox's prompt asking if you'd like to save your freshly sent email into Worldox.

This pop up has stopped happening, and began to fail after a recent update to Outlook that included a new feature called "Coming Soon". You'll see this feature with an On/Off switch in the top right corner of your main Outlook window. Per Outlook's feature description, having this enabled means that you may be using new 'beta' features that can adjust the look and functionality of Outlook.

Resolution

Turn that "Coming Soon" feature OFF:

  • Open Outlook and find the "Coming Soon" button in the top right hand corner
  • Toggle the setting from "On" to "Off"

  • Close and relaunch Outlook. Make sure the setting still shows as Off
  • Test your Sent Email integration again, by sending another email, to confirm the dialog is opening again as expected

For anyone looking for a more thorough resolution, you can disable this feature entirely by implementing a new registry key (note that tampering with your Windows registry:

  • Close Outlook
  • Open Windows Registry Editor
  • Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options
  • Right click on the Options folder and select New>Key (to create a new folder)
  • Name it "General" (no quotes)
  • Right click on the new General folder and select New>DWORD (32-bit) Value
  • Name that "DisablePreviewPlace" (no quotes) and set the value to 1
  • Relaunch Outlook, open a new email and test the Attach File to confirm that Worldox can attach a file as expected
