1.6. Worldox - Offline Errors

Description:

When you launch Worldox you are presented with the following message:

Worldox could not connect to your office server, so you will be running in OFF-LINE mode.

or you see a red "X" on top of the Worldox icon in the system tray by your clock:

Background:

When you launch Worldox you are typically (and should be) launching in "Mirrored" mode.  This means that upon launching Worldox, the application will copy any updated or changed files from the network to your local workstation's C:\Worldox folder.

If Worldox cannot connect to the network location of Worldox (like X:\Worldox) you will receive this dialog.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue

  1. Ensure that you have access to the network location of Worldox and that your drives are mapped consistently with the other users.  We recommend the use of Group Policy or Log in Scripts to map network drives.
  2. Ensure that these drives are being mapped prior to applications running in your start up menu
  3. After a server migration, ensure that you have reinstalled Worldox from the new server.
  4. Occasionally you may find that in order to actually have Worldox obtain access to the network drive you must first actually navigate to the drive in Windows Explorer.  If that's the case, we recommend running the Worldox workstation installer from a UNC path rather than a drive letter.

For further information regarding ensuring that your network drives are mapped prior to applications running see:  Force login scripts to run before startup folder is executed.
