40.8. Using Workstation operating systems for the file server, and/or peer to peer networking

Background

The recommended infrastructure arrangement for Worldox deployments is to have the file server that hosts the docvault and Worldox application files use a true server operating system (e.g. Windows Server 2008, 2003, etc...), and use standard domain connected workstations.

In some cases (usually for very small firms), it may be desirable to use a non-server operating system and/or a peer-to-peer network instead.  Please note that this configuration is not recommended.

Considerations

If you are using a workstation operating system to host the file server, you MUST set the following registry key.  Failing to do so will result in unreliably connectivity between your indexer PC and the file server:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters

set the autodisconnect value to hex ffffffff

After making the change, reboot the 'server'
