12.2. Save As Version not available when dragging a file to workzone

Symptoms

  1. User checks out a document (i.e. to their My Documents folder)
  2. User makes changes to the document
  3. User is ready to save those changes as a new version
  4. User drags the document to Workzone
  5. The Workzone prompt looks like this (note that Save as new version is missing):

Background

Once a document is checked out, the user interacts with the document in the check-out location - not the live Worldox repository.  In the scenario above, the user is dragging a copy of the document from the check-out location and asking Worldox to save over the document (in the check-out location).  But check-out locations don't support multiple versions (only the live Worldox repository supports multiple versions).

Resolution

Instead of using Workzone, check the document back in properly using the following procedure: 

  1. In Worldox, go to Network > Synchronize - this will display a list of your checked out documents
  2. Choose the document(s) you wish to check in
  3. Click File->Check In
  4. You will now see options for checking in as a new version
