11.6. What to do if the Worldox Indexes Become Corrupted

Worldox Professional

Background

Worldox index databases can become corrupt for a number of reasons:

  • Indexer or server hard disk failures

  • Networking issues between the Indexer and the server

  • Indexer nightly rebuild interrupted at exactly the wrong time

If the database becomes corrupt, searches may not work properly and/or error messages referring to ISYS may display on the workstation or the Indexer.

This procedure will walk you through the process of repairing the index databases.  Please note that this procedure can take quite a bit of time, depending on the size of you document repository.

IMPORTANT: Manually initializing a Worldox index database is not something that normally needs to be done.  If you find that this is necessary, we highly recommend contacting support@trumpetinc.com.

Procedure

  • Connect to the Indexer workstation
  • From the database menu, select Meta > Repair
  • Select the appropriate drive to repair (Note: You may have one or more drives depending on your setup)
  • If you are running the Indexer as a Service (not recommended), select one of the following places to run the job:
  • Indexer — to start the service on an Indexer machine. You can choose from a drop-down list if you have multiple machines using the Worldox Indexer service.
  • Address — to specify a machine’s IP address and start the service there.
  • Desktop — to run the service on your desktop. Running the Indexer service in Desktop mode is another way you can view diagnostics and troubleshoot any issues.
  • The Repair Meta database dialog appears and displays the progress about the following actions and when they are started and finished.  The job is finished when you see the message "Job Done"

If the repair does not resolve your issues, please email us at support@trumpetinc.com and we'll be happy to troubleshoot further.
