21.1. Unable to see a new Worldox User in the Security Groups list

Symptoms

Even though you properly added a new user to the User list in Worldox you are unable to see that user in the lists when assigning them to security groups.

Background

When you add a new user to Worldox, Worldox should automatically assign a User ID number to that user.  Worldox reads the worldox.ini to determine the next unique number to assign to that user.  If it cannot read the worldox.ini, it may assign the User ID 0.

A user must have a User ID of greater than 0 and that user ID must be unique to that user.

Resolution

If you're seeing the symptom listed above, from the Worldox Administrator application:

  • Navigate to "Users -> Add / Edit"
  • Sort the User list by the "User ID" column and determine the next available User ID
  • Right click on the user and choose "Edit"
  • In the upper right hand corner you will see the User ID of 0
  • Select the "0"
  • In the Change User ID window, type in the User ID you determined above
  • Select "OK"

Going forward, you should be able to add new users without an issue.
